Patagonian program of Argentine birds
Located at the mouth of the Toro River at the Río de las Vueltas, about 30 km north of El Chaltén, this refuge functions as a biological satellite station: it is the base for all the field activities we carry out in the area: from invasive species control, bird monitoring, river surveys, environmental education and activities of the Integral Course in Conservation. The refuge is part of a collaborative project with Ea. Río Toro and was built in 2020, adding to our work to restore the Río de las Vueltas/Lago del Desierto watershed, and to the efforts of volunteers who, like us, work to conserve and protect these valleys and the species that inhabit them.
